All of us must have heard about the word “Forensic Science or Forensics” every now and then. You must have read excerpts, articles and technologies related to forensic science-its benefits, disadvantages and scope. Let me give you a better description about this new branch of science. What is Forensic science?Forensic science (often shortened to forensics) is the application of a broad spectrum of sciences to answer questions of interest to the legal system. This may be in relation to a crime or to a civil action. But more specifically, the term “forensics”, encompasses the accepted norms and methods under which, the facts regarding an event, or an artifact, exists in determining whether an object is in fact what it purports to be, or is alleged as being.Forensic Anthropology is the application of the science of physical anthropology and human osteology (the study of the human skeleton) in a legal setting, most often in criminal cases where the victim’s remains are more or less skeletonized.Forensic Pathology is a branch of Pathology concerned with determining the cause of death by examination of a cadaver. The autopsy is performed by the pathologist at the request of a coroner usually during the investigation of criminal law cases and civil law cases in some jurisdictions.Forensic science has been extensively used to solve murder, criminal and other cases in which no direct clue or evidence could not be obtained. Forensic Science has definitely made criminal investigations and other legal disputes easy and quick to solve. Thanks to its’ pioneers!

Who said Science fair projects are boring and a chore? With a little bit of imagination you can come up with a winning science fair topic that will not only be interesting but one that you will enjoy doing.
Yes, a middle school science fair project can be a really exciting time for all middle school children. Having fun working on a science fair project while learning different aspects of scientific spectrum is a great and fun way to teach all children and students that the sciences are, contrary to popular belief not a boring chore but can be a lot of fun, which is something far too many schools seem to neglect telling pupils these days.
Below is a fun and interesting middle school science fair project. This example is intended to give you an idea on how to help your child with his or her science fair project. The example is merely a blue print which can easily be built upon.
Four Eyes? Oh Please!
Everyone knows someone who wears glasses. All you need for this science project is a friend or two who wear glasses. Then before the fair, a poster board could be made with a picture of the eye, the different parts (Retina, cornea, etc) labeled, and a brief description on how we see things.
Take a pair of your friend’s glasses and hold them at arms length, does what you’re looking at look smaller? Or does it look Larger? If the view looks smaller, it means your friend is nearsighted also referred to as short sighted. They can see things that are close to them, but may not be able to see things that are far away, this would be a likely indication that their eyeballs may be too long. On the other hand if the view that they see is big, or even upside down, then they are farsighted also known as long sighted. In other words they can see things that are far away, but not when things are closer up to them, the probable of this is that their eye ball is too short.
Advice to Parents.
Have your child to do some research on the eye itself, for example they could find out why it is that some people need glasses? And in what way do glasses help? The local library should have plenty of information geared up for middle school students that would help.
Let Them Create Their Own Ideas.
Of course, you could read dozens of different science fair projects, but none would be as fun or as personal as you and your child working together to come up with some ideas, you may even be surprised at the ideas that your child can come up with. When thinking of ideas you could take into consideration his or her likes and dislikes, and imagine how such a project could be fun and exciting, as well as educational.
I’m sure that when you and your child sit down and really think about it, the two of you could come up with a topic that blows everything else out of the water.
Remember that this is your child’s science fair project, not yours, and he or she needs to complete it. Not you, so left him or her take the lead.

Computer science and information technology has long been known as a great field to get into, but lately there has been a rumor going around that the industry is in a slump, causing fewer students to enroll in a computer science degree program. Unfortunately, the rumor is not at all true, and students are being turned away from a field they are interested in for no reason: The technology industry is still booming, still creating lots of new jobs every day, and still a great field in which to work.
Here are just a few reasons why you should still get that computer science degree and pursue your dream career:
Technology-related jobs are expanding at a phenomenal rate. Many students in the United States worry that the computer science industry is short-lived, because so many corporations are outsourcing technical support and other services to foreign countries such as India. The truth is, though, that the IT industry in the United States is growing far faster than the outsourcing trend. Many more computer science jobs are being created every year than those being eliminated in favor of outsourcing.
A technological world means job security. Let’s face it; we are now more dependent on technology than ever. Common sense, then, should tell us that technological jobs couldn’t possibly be decreasing, when technology itself is on the rise! As more and more of our life is computerized, more and more IT jobs will be created to support and maintain our accustomed lifestyle. This means that a computer science degree offers job security — your particular specialty will always be in demand.
Enrollment in computer science degree programs is down. Unfortunately, many students have taken to heart that computer science is a bad field to get into, and as a result fewer students are enrolling in computer science degree programs. Since the IT industry is in fact expanding within the United States, the result is that the students currently enrolled in computer science programs will have less competition entering the workforce when they graduate.
Computer science jobs are just plain fun. Computers are a hobby and a passion for many people. If you love working with computers and technology, don’t be persuaded to choose another career path by the rumors that IT is a doomed field in the United States. The truth is, of course, that the industry is still booming as much as, or even more than ever, but it’s about more than just that. How much is it worth to you to have a job you love? Many American adults never experience this satisfaction; so don’t turn away from your dream just because somebody tells you the industry is failing, particularly when they are wrong.
Despite what the rumor mills have to say, computer and technology related jobs still have a lot going for them, making a computer science degree a smart choice for any student.

Accordingly, the borderline between fantasy and science fiction is blurred, and many bookstores shelve science fiction and fantasy together. The science fiction genre has a strong fan community of readers and viewers, of which many authors are a part. In reading science fiction books, abstract concepts such as mutations, radiation, space travel and planets are experienced.

Although science fiction is often written primarily to entertain, many authors use the genre to provide insight into science, society, or the human condition. But science fiction is visionary by design and prophetic only by accident.

And yet the strange thing is, in some way, some real way, much of what appears under the title “science fiction” is true. Science fiction has ad a role in shaping public attitudes towards the atomic bomb during the fifties and sixties. Modern consciousness therefore is radically different from that of the peoples who inhabited the planet before the emergence of science fiction. America proved especially hospitable to science fiction, even before it acquired a name.

Television programs like Cold Case Files and CSI have prompted an increase in the publics fascination with forensic science. What is not generally known, however, is that forensic science is a field that involves much more than is shown on television. Everyone knows that forensic scientists work in an area of law and are responsible for examining evidence to solve crimes. But they do more than work in labs, testing samples of DNA. Forensic scientists also visit crime scenes, study the crime locations, and are witnesses in court cases.
Sometimes, these scientists can make mistakes if they dont follow established procedures, which include keeping exact files on the evidence in a case. In some cases, these mistakes can have a negative impact on innocent lives. Several individuals have been sentenced to death on the basis of expert forensic evidence and testimony. Later on, it was discovered that these people were innocent, and the real criminals were apprehended. In these cases, science save an innocent life, and the courts could provide justice. Recently, over eleven individuals were released from a Chicago jail after new forensic evidence showed they were innocent. These people had already spent years in jail as a result of mistakes made in the legal system.
You can get a degree in forensic science online in just a few years. To earn a degree, you need to have a previous degree in biology, physics, chemistry, or physical science in order to register. Some online colleges require a minimum of a bachelors degree in one of these subjects before you can begin courses in forensic science. If you want to find a degree program in this field you should consult organizations such as the American Board of Criminalistic-ABC, American Society of Crime Laboratory Directors-ASCLD, National Forensic Science Tech Center-NSFTC, International Association of Forensic Science, and International Association for Identification-IAI and International Society for Forensic Genetics, and International Association for Identification-IAI and International Society for Forensic Genetics.
Degrees in forensic science may cover budget analysis, forensic accounting, working in a morgue or hospital, studying DNA, or working with computers. There are many areas in which you can work after getting a forensic science degree. Computer forensics involves investigations of evidence by tracking information via computer technology. It is a new field, but expertise in this area increases daily. Computer forensics involves extracting data from various media and presenting the evidence collected to the courts. This field uses extensive software programs and applications. The FBI, CIA, and other law enforcement agencies use forensic science with computers to resolve their cases.
An online forensics degree requires more work and specific background education than other online degrees, but if you want an exciting career with many opportunities and a chance to make a difference, do not let this keep you from pursuing on online degree in forensic science.

Forensic science is one of the most challenging and stimulating careers that someone can choose for a litany of reasons. This is because, unlike other science careers, forensic science deals with the law and most particularly criminal law. What a forensic scientist actually does, is to use science to come to conclusions and solve puzzles with regards to evidence that has been gathered at crime scenes.

Unlike other scientists however; the forensic scientist must be able to defend their conclusions in a court of law. So it is imperative that the conclusions that a forensic scientist arrives at be flawless, because if any of their science is less than credible in one case it can also mean that the conclusions in other previous cases may too be called into question.

Many people are drawn to a career in forensic science because it is a science career that allows them to help people who have been victimized find justice. Problem solving and real life puzzles are still more reasons why people are so drawn to forensic science as a career choice.

Forensic science is continually advancing and new methods of finding answers to the puzzles that are left at crime scenes are continually being developed and tested. This means that a career in forensic science can involve making new discoveries that can be used to solve crimes in the future.

Job security is still one more factor that can’t be ignored and with so many peoples lives being disrupted by a job loss, forensic science is a career that you can count on to stay with you your entire life.

Forensic science is not only intellectually stimulating but it is also financially rewarding as well and with the need for forensic scientists growing world wide it also offers an incredible opportunity for travel.
